The New Mill stood on Schwaamer Strasse, where the sewage treatment plant is today, over 600 years ago. It was the last mill by the Schwalm river in the Wegberg municipality, at the border to Niederkrüchten. The mill's history goes back to 1397. The mill did not need a mill pond as the Schwalm provided enough water power. The regulation of the Schwalm river in the 1920s forced the miller to decommission the mill. In the early 1930s, a licence to serve alcohol-free drinks was granted to the mill ('Die Niuwe Molen').

The town of Wegberg bought the mill and the land belonging to it in 1950. The living quarters provided accommodation for several families. The municipality had to tear the building down in the mid-1970s.
